Scotland head to Alicante for final Euro qualifier
Craig Levein’s side will take on the World champions at 30,000 seater Estadio José Rico Pérez.
Spanish FA officials have announced that the Estadio José Rico Pérez in Alicante will host the 2012 European Championship qualifier between Spain and Scotland on October 11.
The 30,000 seater ground is home to Spanish La Liga side Hercules and was constructed in 1974. It hosted three games during the 1982 World Cup and lies in the suburb of San Blas, two miles from Alicante centre.
The 2010 World Cup winners also announced that their match with Liechtenstein on September 6, 2011, will be played at the Stade de Las Gaunas in Logroño.
Scotland currently occupy third place in qualification Group I after just one win from four and could head to the south of Spain needing a win in the penultimate fixture to keep their Euro dreams alive.
The previous meetings between the two sides at Hampden last October finished 3-2 to the visitors who currently top the group with five wins.
