Simon Cowell says James Arthur should have shut up and focused on his music
Simon Cowell has said that James Arthur should have been told to “shut up and focus on his music” instead of becoming involved in Twitter spats.
The music boss signed the 2012 X Factor star to his Syco label after he won the talent competition.
However, after releasing his self-titled debut album back in October 2013, Arthur has endured criticism for use of homophobic lyrics in a rap, and alleged misogynist text messages.
“I think James, unfortunately, has had so many issues with what he has done publicly – which is a real issue with me,” Cowell told the Metro about the singer’s recent troubles.
“Somebody should have told him to shut up and just put the records out.”
Arthur made a public apology for his behaviour during his return to the X Factor stage back in December, saying: “There’s been incredible highs paired with some terrible lows. I’ve made a few very silly mistakes.”
Arthur recently confirmed ‘Get Down’ as his new single and premiered the accompanying music video earlier this month.
