Sky Anytime+ expands to all Sky+ HD customers

Sky has rolled out its Anytime+ video on-demand service to all Sky+ homes with internet-connected set top boxes.

After Anytime+ launched in October 2010 just to Sky+ homes with Sky Broadband connections, the on-demand platform has now become available to around 5m customers, regardless of who provides their broadband.

Customers need to connect their Sky+ HD box to a broadband router and then they can access a range of on-demand content, including entertainment, documentaries and movies such as The Fighter, Inception and The King’s Speech.

Programmes available include content from Sky’s own channels, such as Sky1 and Sky Atlantic, along with partner channels including MTV, Discovery, FX, History, Disney, UK TV and National Geographic Channel.

Sky Movies subscribers can choose from up to 450 films every week, as well as hundreds more on the Sky Anytime+ component of the Sky Go multi-platform service.

The new Sky Store part of Anytime+ also enables non-Sky Movies subscribers to access a range of films to rent, including new releases and classic titles.

Earlier in 2012, Sky introduced the ITV Player catch-up TV service to Anytime+, offering content such as Secret Diary of a Call Girl and Cold Feet.

This will be joined later in the year by BBC iPlayer, offering a range of catch-up and on-demand programmes from the BBC.

Sky’s director of products Luke Bradley-Jones said: “It’s great to be able to bring our on-demand service Sky Anytime+ to even more customers, helping them to get more out of their Sky subscription.

“We already know how popular Sky Anytime+ is and how the flexibility of the service gives customers more choice and control over how they watch an amazing range of content. We’ve seen strong demand for it to date which we hope to increase now that the service is available with any broadband provider.”

Customers can connect their Sky+ box to the internet either via a wired Ethernet cable, or they can purchase a wireless set-up from Sky with a dedicated Wireless Connector, at a cost of £60.
