Spice Girls musical reportedly facing the axe

The new Spice Girls musical is reportedly facing the axe due to poor ticket sales.

The Daily Star claims that the theatre show, written by Jennifer Saunders and based on the girl group’s songs, is usually only “three-quarters full”.

Viva Forever! failed to impress the critics when it debuted last month, with it being described as a “disappointment” and “terrible”.

There was further bad press on the launch night after Posh Spice Victoria Beckham turned up late and chose to sit away from her former bandmates.

A spokeswoman for producer Judy Craymer said: “The West End takes a dip this time of year. But the show is doing really well.”
