SPOILER ALERT: Dean is questioned by police in EastEnders
EastEnders’ Dean Wicks will find himself face to face with the police this week as he faces questions about the rape of Linda Carter.
Accompanied by his solicitor, Dean, is confronted by the police as they investigate the Queen Vic landlady’s claims.
A dramatic resolution is to be expected as Linda’s rape storyline enters its final stages, and producer Dominic Treadwell insists viewers will be satisfied with the conclusion.
“We’re not The Bill. That show was about the police solving things. I don’t have main characters who are police officers,” he said.
“We have tried very hard to create police characters who are interesting and who have their own stories. And there are more police twists coming up. But that’s not who my viewers are tuning in to see.
“They want to see Linda and Mick. They’re the people they care about and not the police. So the police solving it is not satisfying for the viewer.”
Fans of the show recently saw furious Mick Carter, played by Danny Dyer, take matters into his own hands and storms over to his brother’s hair salon, Blades.
Although, the family have got the police involved, the soap’s executive producer revealed that Dean won’t be facing justice through the courts.
“In real life, a lot of people don’t get their comeuppance. There will have to be a satisfying ending to the story, but it won’t be what you expect,” he said back in October.
“The easy and wrong way to tell the story would be to have Dean arrested and taken off to prison. I’d loved to have done a big trial, but there won’t be one.”
