Stars attend MOBO Awards 2012 Launch
The stars came out last night for the launch of this years MOBO Awards, with Emeli Sande and Plan B leading the way in nominations.
Scottish singer, Emeli Sandé will face off against Jessie J and Tulisa Contostavlos in the running for best female act at the ceremony at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on 3 November, as well as Best R&B/Soul Act, Best Video, Best Song and Best Album.
Tulisa and ex boyfriend and bandmate Fazer both attended the launch party separately, however the X Factor judge admitted it was strange to be up for an award without her N-Dubz bandmates, Dappy and Fazer.
“It feels amazing. But pretty scary,” explained Tulisa.
“It feels strange knowing all the past years I’ve been here it’s been with N-Dubz, so it’s a weird experience.”
While Tulisa landed one nomination for Best Female, her ex-boyfriend missed out on one because he’s only just launched his solo career.
Rapper, actor and director Plan B – real name Ben Drew – is up for best male, best hip-hop/grime act, best video, best song and best album for Ill Manors, the soundtrack to his directorial debut, a gritty crime drama he also wrote.
Newcomer Rita Ora scored herself four nominations for Best Female, Best Video for RIP featuring Tinie Tempah, Best Album for Ora and Best Newcomer.
