The Vampire Diaries tease Damon’s fate revealed in first season 6 teaser

Vampire Diaries’ have released the first trailer for season six.

After leaving fans shocked and grieving for Damon in the season 5 cliffhanger, the teaser trailer shows Elena  mourning the loss of her beloved Damon Salvetore, with his brother Stefan, urging her to “say goodbye”.

The 28-second preview includes the first footage of the new episodes, and focuses on the aftermath of Damon and Bonnie failing to return from the other side.

Towards the end of the trailer, Damon appears and tells her to “move on” with her life. However, it is not clear whether it is really Damon or a hallucination.

Season six will begin with a significant time jump, with the group away from Mystic Falls and currently living under a “no-magic” spell.

Speaking about the upcoming season, executive producer Julie Plec told The Hollywood Reporter in May: “The way we look at it, season six is a beautiful and organic reset. The theme of the season is everybody gets to start over. That’s what we’re going to do.

“We’re trying to take the show away from the massive genre extravaganza, where each season we try to top each other with the bigger, bad, more exciting mythologies and boil it back down to the beginning.”

The Vampire Diaries season six premieres on The CW on Thursday, October 2 with UK dates yet to be confirmed by ITV2.
