Gamers everywhere are gearing up for the release of Call of Duty Black Ops II tomorrow, and it would seem the battle of the high street is on to see where avid gamers with part with their cash.

With a hefty RRP of £54.99 there are certainly discounts to be had, but just shy of £40 is the best any of the supermarkets are doing this year.

As usual the best sounding deals come with some pretty hefty strings attached, with both HMV and GAME requiring you to trade in two very recent games to get Black Ops II for next to nothing (or actually nothing in HMV’s case).

Tesco also has a tempting deal to get the game for £25 if you buy a download card or Xbox Live Arcade Gold membership at the same time. 150 Tesco stores will be extending their opening hours to sell the game, alongside 319 GAME outlets – so check your local shop to see if they’re one of them.

The cheapest no strings attached deal is at Asda, who are selling the game for £38.97 – including online.

Do be aware though, prices can change, particularly online. The prices we quote are for the standard Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. The Hardened and Prestige editions are more expensive and the PC version less expensive.

Officially Black Ops II is released on Tuesday on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC – although as mentioned many stores are opening at midnight if you want to brave the cold. A Wii U version is also planned as a launch title for the new console on November 30.
