TOWIE’s James Argent talks about his missing person mix up
TOWIE’s James Argent sparked a nationwide hunt last month when he was reported missing.
James became the subject of a missing persons search when he failed to turn up to meet his agent, Neil Dobias at Gatwick airport on Friday 29 August, however it was later reported that James went to the wrong airport.
While everyone was frantically searching for The Only Way Is Essex star, he was sat in his hotel unaware of what was happening around him.
James opened up about the whole ordeal to Celebrity Juice host Keith Lemon, revealing he only realised he was the subject of a police search when a hotel cleaner told him.
“Basically, I went to the airport and I missed the flight, and so I checked into a hotel nearby and my phone ran out of battery,” he told show host Keith Lemon.
“So I basically just chilled in the hotel with no battery. Then I woke up and asked the cleaner for a charger and she knocked on the door and said, “You’re missing!”
“And I said, “What do you mean I’m missing?” and she said, “It’s all other the news.” So I went and put my phone on charge and went on Twitter and all I saw was “#PrayForArg.”
“I was thinking, why are they praying for me? And then I phoned my mum and that was it. It was a bit embarrassing.”
