Transfer Deadline Day: Arsenal agree deal for Nacho Monreal

Arsenal have agreed a fee for Malaga left-back Nacho Monreal, with the Gunners paying around 10m euros (£8.3m).

The 26-year-old has made 54 appearances for Malaga since joining from Osasuna in 2011 and won seven caps for Spain.

Arsenal made their move after Kieran Gibbs was ruled out for three weeks with a thigh strain sustained in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool.

Monreal would become their first signing of the January transfer window.

He is now expected to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical, however, the left back will be unable to play for Arsenal in the Champions League as he is cup tied.
