Tulisa found guilty of assaulting celebrity blogger at V-Festival
Tulisa Contostavlos has been found guilty of assault, however has said she will appeal the verdict.
The former X-Factor judge was accused of assaulting celebrity blogger Savvas Morgan – also known as Vas J Morgan – during an altercation at V Festival last year.
Tulisa has said she is “outraged” at being convicted of assaulting the blogger.
In what the 26-year-old singer describes as a “rollercoaster week” after she was cleared of supplying cocaine just days before, Tulisa says she is planning to appeal the guilty verdict.
She shook her head in disbelief as the verdict was read out and appeared to mutter ‘this is bulls***’ as she left the court.
In a defiant statement outside Stratford Magistrates’ Court in east London, she said: “This has been a rollercoaster week for me. I never wanted any of this.
“I did not assault Vas J Morgan and I am outraged at this decision. I will be appealing it.”
Sarah Asbrey, senior district crown prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service in the east of England, said: “It was clear from the evidence that Miss Contostavlos held a grudge against Mr Morgan for previous comments he had made about her on his blog including a link to her sex tape.”
“When she saw him at the festival there was an argument between them, which resulted in her assaulting Morgan.
“The outcome of this case shows that no-one is above the law and each case will be dealt with on its own merits.”
Jeremy Dein QC, barrister for Contostavlos, said in mitigation that his client was provoked by the actions of her victim in relation to the sex tape.
He told the court:”Mr Morgan played a significant part in humiliating and debasing Miss Contostavlos’s reputation, clearly for financial gain.”
