US trio sign up for The Lakes
Kuchar, Watney and Mahan entered for Australian Open
Three of Tiger Woods’ American teammates will tee it up in the Australian Open the week before the Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne.
Matt Kuchar, Nick Watney and Hunter Mahan have all been added to the field at The Lakes in Sydney from November 10-13.
The ultra-consistent Kuchar qualified in top spot in the Presidents Cup standings after another successful season on the PGA Tour while Watney won twice in 2011. Mahan’s last start saw him lose a play-off in the Tour Championship in Atlanta.
Dustin Johnson, along with Woods, has already committed to the event while FedExCup winner Bill Haas is set to announce his entry next week, according to a Golf Australia spokesman.
International team
The International team will also be out in force in Sydney as they prepare to get match sharp in their bid to win back the Presidents Cup.
Adam Scott, the 2009 winner, is entered at The Lakes while two-time Aussie Open winner Robert Allenby will also be joining him.
Next week, another two-time winner, Aaron Baddeley, will be officially added. Baddeley won the event as an amateur in 1999 and defended it the following year after turning pro.
Both Presidents Cup captains – American Fred Couples and Aussie legend Greg Norman – will also play.
