Wayne Rooney unhappy with habit of conceding early goals

Wayne Rooney is unhappy with the slow starts that Manchester United have been making all season, warning the trend needs to be stopped before it costs them dearly.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have picked up an unfortunate habit of conceding early on, with another scare suffered during a UEFA Champions League clash with CFR Cluj last night.

United rallied to secure a 2-1 victory on Romanian soil – courtesy of a Robin van Persie double -but Rooney says they need to tighten up and cut out the early setbacks, as they’ve now found themselves trailing on six occasions already this season.

“It does bother us having to come from behind because we are losing those early goals,” he said.

“It is not nice and it is something that we have to stop because we cannot afford to keep letting teams get a head start on us, especially in the Champions League because it is difficult to win the game anyway.

“We have to make sure we are more solid and hopefully we can be in future games.”
