Whyte expects exciting times ahead for Rangers
Rangers owner Craig Whyte admits exciting times lie ahead as club plans to bring in new names
CRAIG WHYTE has insisted he’ll come up with the cash to back Ally McCoist’s blueprint for rebuilding Rangers.
The new Ibrox owner has already held budget talks with McCoist and RecordSport understands they will meet again at the end of next week to draw up transfer plans.
While some scepticism remains over Whyte’s ability to produce the funds McCoist needs to beef up his titlewinning squad, the man in charge is adamant the new boss will not be caught short as he attempts to build on the legacy left by Walter Smith.
Whyte said: “Ally has said himself he has a hard act to follow but we have spoken and he is confident he can achieve great things next season.
“We’ve talked a few times and we are making plans for next season. He has some targets in mind and, as I’ve said before, I support him in what he wants to do.
“Next season is hopefully going to be great and we are looking to keep as much of the team together as we possibly can. We’re going to be getting a few new signings in as well so I think it’s going to be very exciting.”
