World Cup: Semi Final nightmare for Brazil as Germany win 7-1
Brazil’s World Cup dreams ended in a humiliating loss after Germany inflicted a 7-1 thrashing in Tuesday’s semi-final.
The hosts, who were missing their star players Naymar and captain Thiago Silva, could do noting but watch in disbelief as Germany netted 5 goals within 29 minutes.
The result was their first competitive home defeat in 39 years, and marked the end of their hopes of making it to the World Cup final at the iconic Maracana on Sunday.
Thomas Muller gave the three-time winners an early lead before a period of utter chaos saw Miroslav Klose break the World Cup scoring record, Toni Kroos add two more in the space of 179 seconds and Sami Khedira net a fifth.
Chelsea striker Andre Schurrle added two more after the break.
The only relief for Brazil came late when Oscar pulled one back in the 90th minute. But by then, it was too little, too late.
