World Cup: West Brom duo pull out of Scotland squad
James Morrison and Graham Dorrans have withdrawn from the Scotland squad ahead of Friday’s World Cup qualifying match against Belgium.
The West Brom midfielders pulled out of Gordon Strachan’s side following their club’s Premier League defeat at home to Swansea on Sunday.
The reason for Dorrans’s withdrawal was not disclosed but Morrison injured his groin at the Hawthorns and had to be substituted.
Albion manager Steve Clarke said immediately after the match: “He felt a pain in his groin just before half-time.
“The medical people will assess it but I would imagine he is doubtful for the Scotland trip.”
This was confirmed by the Scottish Football Association later on Sunday.
It is not known if either player will be fit for the trip to Macedonia which comes four days after the Belgium match.
Scotland are currently fifth in Group A with just five points from seven games.
