X Factor: GMD3 ask fans for new name
X Factor finalists GMD3 have offered fans the chance to give them a new name in the run up to the show’s live stages on Saturday.
The boyband were chosen by Louis Walsh as one of his final three groups at Judges’ Houses, but their name was likened to a “virus” by guest judge Sharon Osbourne and the trio have since accepted that they need to go by something less “confusing”.
“We’ve decided we need a new name as no-one can remember it, including Louis and Sharon when we were in Vegas, so that wasn’t a good start,” GMD3 member Greg West said.
Bandmate Mickey Parsons added: “The original name was the letters of our first names with a ‘3’ for the number of us in the group, but people keep thinking we are called GMTV.
“It also means we always have to stand in Greg, Mickey and Dan order and we keep forgetting so that’s confusing everyone as well.”
Dan Ferrari-Lane continued: “We have three days to come up with a new name so the pressure is on. If anyone suggests a name we like we’ll use it and The X Factor have promised the person who comes up with it will get a special prize. OK, I made that up about the prize but now I have said it they’ll have to, won’t they?”
GMD3 also revealed on Twitter that they are changing the name because “some pipeline company has ownership in US”.
Name suggestions can be emailed to xfactor@fremantlemediauk.com and all suggestions need to be made by midday on Wednesday (3rd October).
If GMD3 like any of the suggestions, they’ll pick one and rename themselves in time for Saturday’s (October 6) live show.
