X Factor hopeful Jay James already had a record deal

X Factor contestant Jay James Picton has already had a record deal.

Jay stood on on last nights show after he brought  judge Mel B to tears, but it has now been revealed the dad of one already had a record deal.

The singer’s version of ‘Say Something’ by A Great Big World had Simon Cowell describing his vocal abilities as “outstanding”.

However, some viewers have complained that Picton’s previous musical experiences – which include recording with John Legend and Booker T Jones – have been covered up by producers.

The 30-year-old, who was once billed as the next Adele, released the album Play It By Heart on the Decca label and played as a support act for Jessie J and Rebecca Ferguson.
